Captain Adam Dreffin

Adam was born in Florida, moved aboard his parents’ boat at 1 month old, and has lived on boats ever since. He shot his first lobster at age 6, and as a young child, would disappear into hidden coves with his brother, trolling for fish while handling a sailing dinghy. Over his years in the Bahamas, he has explored all over the area and is familiar with every island in the Exumas.

He is widely traveled, and attained his captain’s license in Australia in 2006 while sailing a circumnavigation with his family.

Adam has captained catamarans for Broadreach Sailing School in the French West Indies, large yachts in New England, and has delivered vessels from the Mediterranean. He holds an MCA Master of Yachts 200 Tons.

In addition to being a highly skilled captain, he is an avid watersports enthusiast. He kitesurfs, windsurfs and relishes catching game fish while trolling between islands. He is also certified as a Sivananda yoga instructor.

Chef Becky García

As Rubicon’s chef, Becky brings tireless energy to the culinary satisfaction of everyone onboard. Given her extensive repertoire of recipes, it’s no surprise she has cooked aboard yachts for some 25 years.

“I love fresh, healthy food, especially colorful vegetarian dishes with delicious sauces, and Mediterranean cuisine. Guests rave about my homemade bread, tasty pastas, fresh fruit salads, cakes and puddings.”

Becky’s passion for food began in the kitchens of her two Grandmothers, one English and one Spanish, when she was so small she couldn’t reach the table without a stool.

She spent her childhood in London, her teens and early 20s on Ireland’s rugged northwest coast, and summers with Dad and his family in Spain. She worked with the Irish Civil Defense ambulance emergency team, helped a master boat builder construct a Viking ship, sailed across the Atlantic 3 times, and has achieved diplomas in holistic massage, anatomy and physiology, reflexology and courses in Reiki.
